OUR WISHLIST

Update 05 January 2012

Urgent needs in Bold Font slanted. (Costs quoted $ = AUD or CAD or USD based on current exchange rates)

** NO CANDY PLEASE! **

Indonesian Books:

Pictorial books about countries, cities and places worldwide.
Children's story books in Bahasa
Teenage magazines in English and Bahasa (magazines about pop-stars fashion etc. are a great way to get kids interested in reading)

Building:

We are currently seeking to raise $250,000 to build a new Outreach Centre for teenagers over 18 who still require holistic care to complete their studies and move into the workforce. Due family issues and poverty many children commence their school late. Some of our children did not have access to education until they were 12 or 13 years of age. This means they are still completing Secondary Education in their young adult years. Let's not forget the older children who face a critical time in their lives

Cleaning:

Antiseptic hand & bath soap (bar and liquid), PK, household-cleaning products.
Items such as food, washing powder, antiseptic can be purchased locally and are usually 40 to 50% cheaper than western prices. Soap, Shampoo, infant toothpaste.

Clothing:

Boys summer clothing for ages 4 to 18. Maximum size small mens. No second hand shoes please for health reasons. As of 01 February 2010 we especially need teenage boys clothing ages 14 to 19. No bigger than 29 inch waist or 16 shirt/t shirt. Due health reasons we cannot accept second hand footwear. New only sorry.

Computers:

Second hand lap tops no more than 5 years old for our kids to use for study. If the laptops are too old we cannot update them and the kids cannot access files. They need to be working, as the cost to repair broken laptops is hugely expensive.

Three new desktop computers for our new computer school. Cost $750.00 per unit.

Dental:

Electric motor hand piece with slow/high speed attachments, Electrical Surgical motor, Kavo type, Kavo hand pieces in working order RA type and fast turbines. Please ensure 100 per cent working and serviced before donating as not possible here to service. Pede extraction instruments uppers and lowers. Latex gloves S/M/L Dental Elevators (Couplands sizes 1,2,3), Dental Forceps, and Spoon Excavators.

Education Support

Sponsorship for children who are struggling in Maths or English to attend Kumon. $35.00 per month. Kumon uses a different method of teaching and we have experienced excellent results from our children's attendance. We only have three children attending Kumon and many more could benefit from their program. In Bali's schools, there are forty to fifty children to one average class. So if a child is falling behind it is extremely difficult to obtain any one on one assistance to catch up. Kumon can help those children.

Exchange Trip to Vietnam

In April/May 2012 a group of former street children/orphans of KOTO project Vietnam will travel to Bali to support a fundraising event for Bali Kids. The children now qualified chefs through KOTO's wonderful vocational training project in Vietnam. In turn, 12 children from Bali Kids will travel to represent Bali and assist KOTO for their annual graduation dinner in Hanoi. Bali restaurant owner Janet Molloy will also join the team to teach the children of KOTO in Balinese food preparation. KOTO trains the children to prepare International cuisine in Vietnam. Melia Hotels are sponsoring accommodation in Bali and Vietnam (Thank you so much Melia Group!) but we need assistance for airfares and passports etc. The events will generate funding for both projects and link children of two very different cultures who due their backgrounds share a great deal in common. The children of Bali will also perform for the Christina Noble Foundation' children in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam. See www.koto.com.au and www.cncf.org. We need to raise a total of $5,000- for these events to take place. For corporate sponsors we are happy to include your company logo etc. in any promotions leading up to the events. $1,000.00 donated by Jan Harvey Coolangatta QLD. Thank you so much Jan!
