Children of all ages are placed in our care for many reasons. These can range from them being sick and families not knowing how to cope with their condition, economic reasons (the family simply couldn't afford to raise and feed another child), employment reasons (the family has to have two incomes and cannot afford to pay someone to look after their baby or child) or even issues relating to voodoo beliefs or ignorance of conditions such as HIV. We have rescued children from even being put to death by village elders because they were in some way "malformed".
Whatever the reason that causes a child to come to us, they are warmly welcomed into our family and given love, nourishment and education and raised in a caring, respectful and supportive way.
