Although we have been able to function very successfully from our two existing premises, we have known for some time that we really needed a larger, more practical, more suitable, purpose built home for Bali Kids.
We began fund-raising in 2001, and in February 2011 we held the official ceremony at the land that would become the location of a new purpose built facility for Bali Kids. Since then, thanks to the dedication, love and commitment of quite literally hundreds of people around the world, we have seen our new home slowly come up from the ground.
On July 7th 2012, we plan to have the opening ceremony when our new facility, able to accomodate up to 56 boys and girls of all ages will spring to life. In two seperate "wings" we will be able to house children with infectious conditions seperately to children who are healthy. This will be a wonderful moment for all of us and will be the result of a tremendous amount of fund-raising by people all over the world. It will also allow us to provide a truly excellent level of care to the children who rely on Bali Kids.
Of course getting the funds to enable the building to be built is only the start. Running and maintaining the Medical Centre and Orphanage will cost an estimated US$360,000 per year - which when you consider that we will probably touch the lives of 7000+ kids every year is actually a realistic amount. We do operate frugally and watch every dollar that we are given. Please do come and visit us when we're open and see the difference we make to disadvantaged kids in Bali - we hope you'll agree that all the hard work was and is very worthwhile.
