Caring for disadvantaged children calls for a great deal of dedication, commitment, understanding, patience and sensitivity. The small, close team at Bali Kids demonstrate all of these qualities.
Stuart Smith
Chairman
Stuart Smith – one of Bali’s leading and most respected hotelliers, came on board with Bali Kids in 2006 and became our Chairman three years ago.
From humble beginnings, life taught him the importance of opportunity and how every child should be afforded a chance of a full and meaningful life.
A dedicated family man, Stuart has a lovely Balinese wife, Made Sri and two children. Bali Kids presented Stuart with a chance to give back to the Island he loves and now calls home. His unwavering commitment to Bali Kids has helped us already to achieve much. His commercial skills have also been vital to turning our dream of the new medical centre into reality.

Mrs. Trudy Mentink-Nijssen
Founder of Foundation Bali Bundar
Trudy is Dutch, married to Huub who is the Chairman of Bali Bundar since September 2010, and has two grown up children. Since September 2010 Trudy has mostly been involved in fundraising and PR for the Foundation.
During her working life she was a Human Resource assistant for various companies and later for their own business. In 2005 Trudy visited Bali for the first time and immediately felt that help was needed. That’s how the Foundation Bali Bundar was started, March 2006. From the beginning she had contact with Bali Kids, at that time only a small clinic. She was and remains, very aware of the need of the work Bali Kids does. When the orphanage started she immediately offered to raise money to send all the children in the orphanage to a good school. Until today Foundation Bali Bundar has covered most of the children's school fees.
When the building plans came up Bali Bundar offered to raise around € 150.000. Until now € 150.000 has been raised by Bali Bundar.
Beside fundraising skills Trudy tries to bring people and organisations together. For example, Barry and Joyce Walsh became involved in Bali Kids via Trudy. Other projects of Bali Bundar are now connected with Bali Kids. On a great distance from Bali she manages to connect people together, to work together and to help together.
Helping the children in Bali and especially Bali Kids is now one of the main goals in her life.

In 2010, John was appointed to an advisory position to Bali Kids, whilst Keryn continues her work as the Victorian Project Coordinator.
“From our very first visit to Bali Kids we saw and felt the genuine passion and warmth of all the staff towards the kids. We knew then that this was a special place: professionally run, financially accountable and full of energy to make their lives better. We never hesitated to be involved and only wish we had more time to do so.
